One of my favourite local restaurants to go. I'm a fan of dinner or brunch there or even just drinks at the bar or one of their outdoor tables.
Service has always been fantastic, and the food too. The great thing is the attitude, you can come drink and/or eat for as long as you like, no rushing you to get you out, allowing you to really enjoy yourself. -

Nice pub ambiance and friendly staff. Our food was good but nothing exceptional. I'd return for an average every day meal.

I took my sister here for a belated birthday brunch, and I have to be honest, I was not impressed.
I would never, EVER complain that the food is pricey if it's really good, or if the place offers an experience along with it. Alas, this really wasn't the case for PJ's bar and grill.
Both my sister and I had 2 dishes each: the poached eggs on avocado and rye bread, the eggs royale, the french toasts with bacon and banana, and the pancakes with berries.
The only way I would be able to sum it up is: gourmet prices were paid for corner-café food at best. It wasn't disgusting, it wasn't even bad. It was okay.
The egg & avocado thinghy was stupidly tiny and costed £13. THIRTEEN POUNDS. Again, if it had been pretty spectacular (as far as eggs on toast go), I wouldn't have had a problem with it. In fact, the main reason why we ordered another round was how hungry we still were after the first. Hungry and underwhelmed.
Getting the attention of the staff was also tricky. Not to mention mugs and glasses were left on the table until the end of the meal, despite being empty. They just seemed pretty inattentive.
(The place only had 3 tables occupied when we arrived by the way, it only got busy towards the end of our meal, around 11am.)
I really wanted to like this place, but I don't think I'll be going back. Unless someone else is paying.
ps. For some reason I was given a tiny dessert fork instead of a regular one to eat my poached eggs... ?_? -

Neighborhood restaurant that looks like is getting the overflow from the now gone Brasserie a few blocks down. Happy to have found it. We'll return.

It's a large, dark restaurant/bar that has an old time feel. I went with friends on a last min decision. There were no tables so we had drinks with fries at the bar.
The atmosphere is buzzing but not too loud.
The staff did not mind that we were not spending that much money or that some of us were in jeans. Which is a big plus.
I would love to go here again and try the restaurant.
